Jamulus is free sofware that allows musicians to collaborate in real-time over the internet. It works quite well, depending on how close the user are gographically.
Jamulus consists of servers and clients.
In the diagram at the right, in the center we see a server out in the internet cloud. This server provides a "room" where people can enter, and play together.
Connected to this server, like spokes in a wheel, we see multiple musicians. These clients. These people use the Jamulus client software to connect to the Server.
right now, out on the internest, there are over 200 Jamulus server "rooms." KalamaJam hosts several of these.

As I reflect on this year’s Sounds of the Zoo, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. To every artist who shared their voice and vision, every venue that opened its doors, every sponsor and donor who believed in our mission, every volunteer who gave their time and energy, and every community member and fan who showed up with love and support — thank you. This festival is built on connection, creativity, and community, and it’s because of you that we’re able to bring this vision to life each year. Together, we’re proving that music has the power to unite, inspire, and create positive change right here in Kalamazoo and beyond. From the bottom of my heart — thank you for being part of the Sounds of the Zoo family, “It’s All About The Music” ❤️ Jennifer Hudson-Prenkert Director, Sounds of the Zoo
