Bronson Park is located in the heart of downtown in one of the city's original blocks. It's Kalamazoo's oldest park and is named after the city's founder, Titus Bronson. It's location makes it a prime spot to host gatherings and events, a role it has played throughout its history. Because of its location and importance in Kalamazoo, its sometimes referred to as Kalamazoo's "front porch". Bronson Park is a great place to connect with friends and neighbors at any of the popular events that are held there. There is plenty of shade covering the benches and tables, paved walkways to stroll on, and a variety of sculptures and memorials. Outdoor table tennis is also available for those that are interested in some friendly competition (the Kalamazoo Public Library has paddles you can borrow). Every summer Bronson Park hosts Lunchtime Live!, a weekly event with food trucks, live music, vendors, and games on Fridays during lunch hour. During the holiday season, the park hosts Kalamazoo's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, where the community comes together to celebrate the season and light up the park.
